Who we are

About Karting Africa

Why now?

Africa has never lacked talent.

It has lacked a connected system to discover it, develop it and let it thrive. Africa is the only continent without a unified pathway linking grassroots karting, national championships and continental competition.

A young person in Kigali, Nairobi, Accra, Lusaka, Luanda or Gaborone deserves the chance to discover motorsport — and somewhere meaningful to go next. Karting Africa was created to close that gap.

Founded by Wesleigh Orr, four-time Karting World Champion.

Young African karting driver

Founder's view

My goal is simple: an F1 driver from Africa.

I put my first race suit on at seven years old. Four Karting World Championships, two European Karting Championships and nine South African Karting Championships later, I know what it takes to reach the top — and what is missing for a driver born on this continent.

Every title I won came from a system: a national programme, a coach, a mechanic, a team that believed in me. Africa has the talent. It does not yet have that system for every child who wants it. So we are building it.

Five rounds in 2027. A pathway from a local track to Formula Car. Karts, equipment and a dealer network supplied throughout the continent. The measure of success is not a trophy — it is an African driver in a Formula 1 car, and the thousands of young people who see themselves in that car first.

The drive is to empower the youth of Africa.
